HeavenSent Kids was founded in January 2019 but it was written on the founder’s heart long before that. Over 13 years ago one of my closest friends married the love of her life. I was overjoyed for the two of them truly believing that God had placed them together. Not long after, she announced that they were having a baby. As we prepared all of the upcoming events associated with bringing a new baby into the world, I asked what I should get her for the baby shower ( because I kind of suck at gift buying had very little money…lol). She smiled and said the grandparents had gone overboard and she didn’t really need anything. Then a glimmer flashed across her eyes and she said, “You write! Would you write something for him as a gift to me?”  I was unbelievably honored.

It didn’t take long for me to pour my understanding of her heart onto the page. She oozed love for her unborn son and I was the privileged scribe. Needless to say, she loved the poem. Many months later as I gained a birds eye view of their focused and purposeful child-rearing the believer in me became quite fascinated.  Over many months as I watched her son grow I listened to her emphatically proclaim how he was to be raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord and she was generally content to excuse those who disagreed.  I was proud of her stance and as someone who has spent 30 years on children’s ministry, youth ministry and education, I began to consider a very important idea.

The bible says that we are each made in His image and after His likeness but I have spent my life working with children who don’t feel or live that truth. I’ve worked with children who feel defined by the circumstances of their birth or by the meanest words ever spoken to them. I have worked with children who feel strange, or weird or different and out of place. I have worked with children who feel desperate and afraid and alone. And when I thought about the one single message I would share with every child I have loved and served, it was simple. “You are loved! You are here on purpose because you are HeavenSent!”

Then I thought, what if we could all be so bold! What if we could ground our children in the truth of God’s word and what He believes about them? What if we could use the very same tool that secular industries use to captivate our children with fairy tales to spread the gospel in a way that is engaging and easy for kids to understand?  So I began to write. I wrote story after story of lessons I wanted to teach my god sons…And thus the idea of HeavenSent Kids was born.

The goals of HeavenSent Kids are to preach the gospel in an engaging and palatable way while teaching other important life skills such as reading and comprehension. It is also designed to create a faith based product line designed to empower all of God’s little children to be the real super heros of the world they live in! So join us in creatively preaching the gospel and sharing our faith aloud!
